The star of this week’s Littlefish Loves feature is Ragdale Hall: our go-to destination for rest, relaxation and a total escape from the stress of the trading charts.
If you ever find yourself in need of a break to clear your head, try a Refresh and Revive spa day at Ragdale Hall (including a back massage, facial, 3-course lunch and full use of the facilities) to return feeling refreshed, revived and ready to get back in the game.
As you arrive, you’ll be greeted by an impressive hall surrounded by the Leicestershire countryside and a friendly member of the Ragdale team (Ragdale Hall pride themselves on maintaining a high guest to staff ratio, so there’s always someone on hand to attend to your every need).
Then you’ll be taken for a complimentary tea or coffee to kick off your day of rest and relaxation while the staff give you all the information you’ll need- including a map of the hall and grounds (although they also offer a tour which is well worth taking if you really want to make the most of what’s on offer).
At this point, you’ll be asked to keep phones and laptops switched off throughout the day- ideal if you really need to take a break from trading as you won’t be interrupted by emails, phone calls or data releases (but if a full day away sounds a stretch too far, don’t worry- you can use your phone anywhere in the grounds and there’s even a mind gym equipped with computers and Wifi).
Then you’re free to go off and explore the facilities- first up, head to the Thermal Spa, where you can relax in 11 different heat facilities including waterfall pools, experience showers, scented rooms, a rose sauna and more.
A highlight is the candle pool, a cave-like haven hidden away underground at the bottom of a winding staircase and illuminated by twinkling lights and candles. It’s the perfect place to disappear for some peace and quiet.
Then head to the indoor-outdoor waterfall pool, filled with bubbling footpaths, massage jets and finishing up with a waterfall and cascade. Even in the Great British weather, you can swim outside year-round in waters kept at a constant 34 degrees.
When you’ve had your fill of the Thermal Spa, kick back and relax in one of the several relaxation areas on offer. The best of the bunch is definitely The Retreat- a silent room filled with beds, swings, bean bags, cushions and fluffy quilts where you can lie back and read or daydream (and probably nod off…)
Or you might prefer the glass-walled Pavilion, where you can lie back on comfy loungers and watch the world go by (it’s perfect on a rainy day).
After that, it’s treatment time! The Refresh and Revive spa day at Ragdale Hall includes a choice of a Blissful Face and Back treatment (a facial and a back massage) or a Soothing Back Massage and Soft Hands treatment. For maximum relaxation, go for the Blissful Face and Back treatment- you’ll leave feeling like a new person.
If you’re feeling a bit more active, there’s a state-of-the-art gym, tennis courts, exercise classes, exercise pool and more on offer to keep you busy.
And once you’ve worked up an appetite, you can tuck into your three-course lunch. Hot starters are served to your table, while you choose your main from a healthy buffet- think curries, fish, meat, jacket potatoes and an impressive salad bar. For dessert, you can choose from a hot option served to your table or a range of desserts from the buffet (or go wild and have both).
Lunch is served in Ragdale’s impressive formal restaurant- but don’t worry, in the spirit of rest and relaxation, the dress code is very informal. You can even turn up in your dressing gown and slippers to enjoy your meal.
After lunch, you’ve got until 6pm to enjoy the facilities and make the most of your day.
