We get it. The festive season can be a bit of a whirlwind of meetings, parties, end of year targets, events – oh, and on top of all that, you have to buy presents for everyone you know and their next-door-neighbour’s cat, and make small talk with family members you know you’re loosely related to but can’t quite remember how (or what they’re called).
Sometimes, it all gets a bit much and you need a break – and that’s where the Nutshell comes in.
In a nutshell, the Nutshell (yes, we went there) is a pod for productive break-taking: you strap it on like a backpack and fold the hood over your head, and voila! you’re encased in your own little personal bubble where no-one will disturb you (mostly because they’ll think you’ve gone mad, but that’s besides the point).
It was developed by Products of Design student Eden Lew who was tasked with the project of “redesigning the next thing she threw out” – which happened to be a sandwich wrapper. After seven weeks of prototyping and branding, the Nutshell was born.
Unfortunately, the Nutshell has yet to be released for sale, so you can’t buy one just yet – but you can find out more about the Nutshell and its accompanying range of products (including a blackout pod, headphone helmet and relaxation app) here. In the meantime, you’ll have to stick to disappearing for some “fresh air” when you need a moment to yourself…
