Read on to find out all about the events you won’t want to miss this year…
Read on to find out what we’re looking forward to this coming year (and make sure you update your shiny new diaries)…
The London Marathon
The London Marathon is a big date in the calendar every year, but we’re particularly excited about the 2016 event which will see astronaut Tim Peake become the first man to run a marathon in space.
Peake, who has already become the first British man in space, will run the 26.2 miles on a treadmill onboard the International Space Station as it orbits Earth, while on the ground 37,000+ runners will cover the famous distance across London.
If you’re still having withdrawal symptoms from the 2014 World Cup and wondering how you’ll last until Russia 2018, don’t stress – the hole in your life will be well filled this year by the 2016 UEFA European Championship.
France are playing host to this year’s tournament, which will be played across cities including Paris, Bordeaux, Nice and Marseille. The perfect excuse for a jaunt to France this summer? We think so.

Grand Prix of Europe
The big F1 dates always take prominence in our Trader Lifestyle calendar, and high on the list of hyped events for 2016 is the revival of the Formula One Grand Prix of Europe.
The European Grand Prix will return for the first time since 2012 and take to the streets of Baku, Azerbaijan. It’s probably the biggest date of the 2016 F1 calendar, so get the date in your diary now.

Okay, this one was probably already on the list (and if it wasn’t, your chances of getting tickets are slim to none…)
The biggest festival of the year is as ever a highlight of your summer calendar, with rumoured acts included Coldplay, Ellie Goulding, Jess Glynne, Adele, Disclosure and Bastille, and the full programme still to be revealed. Stay tuned…
Last but definitely not least, we can’t talk 2016 events without mentioning Rio 2016, can we?
It’s time to prepare for your life to be taken over by watching all kinds of sport, from the old faithfuls to the more obscure competitions you’d never normally watch but will inevitably become drawn in to as the tournament goes on.
